British No 4 Mk. II Spike Bayonet and Mk. I scabbard.

Alas the frog is a repro'. Still searching for an original one.

The Mk. II Spike bayonet is a "socket" bayonet. It has no handle and mounts on the end of the barrel, and not as the sword and knife type bayonets in a groove underneath the barrel. The Mk. I spike bayonet had grooves on the side, but to cut down production costs under WWII they made the Mk. II with no grooves. The last bayonet to be used with the No.4 MkI riffle was the No. 9 MkI "Knife" Bayonet.

You could attach the spike bayonet at the end of the late war entrenching tool handle and thus making it a mine prober.
